CTA Associates

Corder/Thompson & Associates is fortunate to have a number of associates with exceptional mediation and coaching skills. In addition, all the associates have other professional skills and backgrounds. The following list contains background and contact information for some of our associates.

Yvonne Becerra is a professional mediator and volunteer for the Austin Dispute Resolution Center. She received her 40-hour basic mediation training from the Austin DRC in 1994 and Advanced Mediation Training from the LBJ School of Public Affairs in 1997. Yvonne is a board member of the Texas Association of Mediators, an arbitrator for the Travis Central Appraisal Review Board and owns Texas-REAL-Dispute, a private mediation practice specializing in the mediation of real estate disputes in English or Spanish. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Texas at Austin. Presently, she teaches conflict resolution for the University of Texas at Austin’s Extension Division. Jan Berger is a mediation and facilitation specialist with jBerger & Associates, convening groups for conversation, dialogue and reconciliation. She received her MS in Organizational Leadership and Ethics at St. Edward’s University, Austin, TX, and her BA in Journalism at the University of Oklahoma. Jan has completed the 40-Hour Mediation Training; additionally, she has received training in Advanced Family Mediation, Peer Mediation, and Collaborative Problem Solving. She spent 12 years in non-profit administration and fundraising. She has done freelance writing and editing, and she spent 6 years in early childhood development. Through her work at jBerger & Associates, Jan facilitates simple conversations, focus groups, dispute resolution, collaborative problem solving sessions and strategic planning retreats. She is a volunteer mediator at the Dispute Resolution Center in Austin, a mediation training coach, and an affiliate consultant with Greenlights for NonProfit Success. She serves on the Austin Bar Association Fee Dispute Committee, and she is a member of Austin Association of Mediators and Texas Association of Mediators. (jberger1@austin.rr.com, 512-327-6084)

John Bladesreceived his 40-hour mediation and advanced family mediation training at the Austin DRC, where he is a volunteer mediator. He was the founder and president of a mining company which was acquired by a Fortune 500 company in 2002. John is a Texas Mediation Credentialing Association Credentialed Mediator. He does all types of mediation, with an emphasis on business and real estate transactions. He lives and works in Uvalde, Texas. Deidra Davidsonis the Director of Training and Community Relations for the Dispute Resolution Center (DRC). Deidra has been with the DRC since 1996, working in various kinds of alternative dispute resolution. She is a trainer, facilitator, mediator, interpreter for the deaf, and has served as the Director of Case Management, Volunteer Services and Technology at the DRC. Deidra has done customized workshops and facilitation with AmeriCorps, Austin Tenant’s Council, Travis County Services for the Deaf, Juvenile Court Peer Mediation program, HEB, Valley View Independent School District, National Center for Farm Worker’s Health, Neighborhood Conference Committee and the Texas Medical Foundation. She also served as a member of Directors of Volunteers In Austin. Deidra is co-owner of 3D Resolutions and has trained law enforcement and community members across the state of Texas with the Texas Institute for Public Problem Solving (TIPPS). Deborah Edward is Managing Director of Psychology without Borders, an international nonprofit established to enhance knowledge and alleviate psychological suffering of people and communities affected by terror or disaster. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas where she teaches Nonprofit Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Volunteerism at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. She is the co-founder and former Executive Director of the Austin Children’s Museum. Edward was founding director of Greenlights for Nonprofit Success, providing management training and consultation for Central Texas nonprofits. Pat Grigadean has been a professional mediator and conflict management consultant specializing in organizational conflict since 1990. She provides mediation, group facilitation, and interpersonal skills coaching services, as well as training in the areas of conflict resolution, communication, goal setting, and team work. Her clients have included Austin Community College, Capital Metro, Dell Computer Corporation, Texas Commission for the Blind, Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation, and Texas A&M University. Pat is also a co-founder of Creative Estate Distribution, an organization which uses a mediation process to help heirs resolve disputes about inherited property. She serves as the Organizational Development Coordinator at St. Edward’s University and is the author of “Pat Answers,” an advice column dealing with workplace issues. Mark Hall works for the Texas Water Development Board. He is a professional engineer and leads a team of engineers aiding the financing and development of water and wastewater infrastructure throughout the state. Mark completed his 40-hour mediation training at the DRC in November 2001 and he is a board member of the Austin Association of Mediators. He currently mediates in his work at the Texas Water Development Board. He also is a volunteer mediator at the DRC. (mark.hall@twdb.state.tx.us, 512-463-8489)

Diane Harvey has been a social worker for over 25 years, mainly in the mental health field. Most recently she directed the Social Services Department at CPC Capital Hospital in Austin. From 1984 to 1993, in addition to working as a social worker for New York state, she served in various union activist positions in New York State's Public Employees Federation. She is currently on the board of the Austin Association of Mediators, maintains a private therapy/mediation practice, and is a volunteer mediator at the DRC.  (dmharvey@austin.rr.com, 512-448-5895)

Marianne Hopper is a volunteer mediator at the Dispute Resolution Center and was a member of its Board from 1985-1991. In addition to the 40-hour basic training, she has attended several other mediation trainings including family and juvenile court. David Huang was born in Taipei, Taiwan and grew up in Panama, where he lived for 13 years. He graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in Business and then worked for Marriott Corporation for 8 years as a food service manager. David has worked at the DRC since 1995. In addition to the basic 40-hour training, David has had family mediation training and Marshall Rosenberg’s workshop on Non-Violent Communication.  (dlhuang@austindrc.org, 512-371-0033)

Sam Shore has conducted training in conflict resolution and negotiation for a variety of organizations and has co-authored a negotiation skills manual used to train persons with psychiatric disabilities to negotiate for themselves in their work settings. Karl Spock has been a volunteer mediator with Austin’s Dispute Resolution Center since 1995. He is the sole proprietor of Karl Spock Public Affairs Consulting and specializes in analysis and communication of public policy issues for state and local governments as well as private sector clients. Before beginning his consulting career in 1993, Karl was an Assistant Director for the Texas Sunset Commission and a senior analyst for the Legislative Budget Board for a total of 17 years.  (kspock@spockconsulting.com, 512-476-2223)

Terri St. Arnauld is currently a policy specialist for the Family Violence Program at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). She has been a mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center and the state since 1992 and facilitates processing of new mediators for both programs. Because of her advanced training in family mediation and extensive experience in human resources and business, most of her mediation experience has been in these areas. Liz Viola has been a mediator since 1988. She has worked with conflict resolution in business, divorce, and law enforcement. She is a past board member of the Austin Association of Mediators, a former Assistant Director of the Dispute Resolution Center and has a Master of Arts in Human Services. Lisa Weger is a mediator, facilitator, consultant and trainer in conflict resolution. Her background is in speech and communication, with a B.S. in Education. Lisa is on staff at the Dispute Resolution Center, where she has had various affiliations since 1989, including being a volunteer mediator. Lisa served as adjunct faculty in the role of coach for the graduate program in Conflict Resolution at St. Edward’s University.  (lweger@juno.com, 512-371-0033)
