CTA Associates

Corder/Thompson & Associates is fortunate to have a number of associates with exceptional mediation and coaching skills. In addition, all the associates have other professional skills and backgrounds. The following list contains background and contact information for some of our associates.

Yvonne Becerra received her 40-hour basic mediation training from the Austin DRC in 1994 and Advanced Mediation Training from the LBJ School of Public Affairs in 1997.  She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Texas at Austin.  Yvonne has been a volunteer mediator for the Austin Dispute Resolution Center since 2001.

Craig Bell was employed for more than 32 years as planner and division manager for the City of Austin in the Planning Department and the Water & Wastewater Utility, where he became engaged in various types of public involvement activities.  He is a volunteer mediator with the DRC, has been a board member of Austin Association of Mediators, and is a member of Texas Association of Mediators and Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. He is currently involved with a couple of nonprofits and maintains his certification with the American Institute of Certified Planners.  (scraigbell@aol.com, 512-451-3162)

Jan Berger is a mediation and facilitation specialist with jBerger & Associates, convening groups for conversation, dialogue and reconciliation.  She received her MS in Organizational Leadership and Ethics at St. Edward’s University, Austin, TX, and her BA in Journalism at the University of Oklahoma.  Jan has completed the 40-Hour Mediation Training, and training in Advanced Family Mediation, Peer Mediation, and Collaborative Problem Solving.  Jan is a TMCA Credentialed Mediator.  She is a volunteer mediator at the Dispute Resolution Center in Austin and a mediation training coach.  Jan is a member of Austin Association of Mediators (AMM) and Texas Association of Mediators (TAM).  She is the immediate-past editor of TAM’s Texas Mediator newsletter. John Blades received his 40-hour mediation and advanced family mediation training at the Austin DRC, where he is a volunteer mediator. He was the founder and president of a mining company which was acquired by a Fortune 500 company in 2002. John is a Texas Mediation Credentialing Association Credentialed Advanced Mediator. He does all types of mediation, with an emphasis on business and real estate transactions. He lives and works in Uvalde, Texas. John is a past member of the board of directors for both the Texas Association of Mediators and the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. (jsblades@gmail.com, 830-486-0121)

Deidra Davidson is the Director of Training and Community Relations and the Web Administrator for the Dispute Resolution Center (DRC). Deidra has been with the DRC since 1996, working in various kinds of alternative dispute resolution. She is a trainer, facilitator, mediator, interpreter for the deaf, and has served as the Director of Case Management, Volunteer Services and Technology at the DRC. Deidra has enjoyed doing customized workshops and facilitation with AmeriCorps, Austin Tenant’s Council, Travis County Services for the Deaf, Juvenile Court Peer Mediation program, HEB, Valley View Independent School District, National Center for Farm Worker’s Health, Neighborhood Conference Committee and the Texas Medical Foundation. She also served as a member of Directors of Volunteers In Austin. Deidra is the previous co-owner of 3D Resolutions and has trained law enforcement and community members across the state of Texas with the Texas Institute for Public Problem Solving (TIPPS). Deidra is also a member of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable, (TMTR) and Association of Conflict Resolution, (ACR). (Deidra@austindrc.org, 512-371-0033)

Deborah Edward is a long-time Austin resident involved in nonprofit management and arts institutions in Austin and around the world.  She has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas where she teaches in the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at the LBJ School of Public Affairs.  Edward is co-founder of the Austin Children's Museum, which she led for 16 years.  She was also founding director of Greenlights for Nonprofit Succes, providing management training and consultation for Central Texas nonprofits.  Edward is on the Board of NPower Texas and an Advisor t the UT Humanities Institute and CreateAustin. Pat Grigadean has been a professional mediator and conflict management consultant specializing in organizational conflict since 1990. She provides mediation, group facilitation, and interpersonal skills coaching services, as well as training in the areas of conflict resolution, communication, goal setting, and team work. Pat is co-founder of Creative Estate Distribution, an organization which uses a mediation process to help heirs resolve disputes about inherited property. She serves as the Organizational Development Coordinator at St. Edward’s University and is the author of “Pat Answers,” an advice column dealing with workplace issues. Diane Harvey has been a social worker for about 30 years in a multitude of settings. For many years, she worked as a social worker in the New York State psychiatric system and concurrently served in various union activist positions in New York State's Public Employees Federation.  Moving to Austin in 1993, she directed the Social Services Department at CPC Capital Hospital in Austin until 1995.  She currently maintains a private therapy/mediation practice, serves on the boards of the Austin Association of Mediators, Texas Association of Mediators and Texas Mediator Credentialing Association, and is a volunteer mediator at the Austin Dispute Resolution Center.  (dmharvey@austin.rr.com, 512-448-5895)

Susan Hauser has been a volunteer mediator at Austin Dispute Resolution Center since completing 40-hour basic mediation training in June 2007 and 24-hour group facilitation training in December 2007.  She holds an M.A. in Speech Communication and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, as well as teaching and school administration certificates.  Susan worked as speech-language pathologist and lead teacher for 15 years in rehabilitation and educational settings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Austin, Texas.  She has been Assistant Principal at Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired since 1993.  (hausersp@gmail.com, 512-809-1060)

Marianne Hopper is a volunteer mediator at the Dispute Resolution Center and was a member of its Board from 1985-1991. In addition to the 40-hour basic training, she has attended several other mediation trainings including family and juvenile court. David Huang was born in Taipei, Taiwan and grew up in Panama, where he lived for 13 years. He graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in Business and then worked for Marriott Corporation for 8 years as a food service manager. David has worked at the DRC since 1995. In addition to the basic 40-hour training, David has had family mediation training and Marshall Rosenberg’s workshop on Non-Violent Communication.  (david@austindrc.org, 512-371-0033)

Sheri Moore is an attorney who is currently working in the governmental relations area for CenterPoint Energy (formerly Houston Lighting and Power).  She is a TMCA credentialed mediator and also a volunteer mediator for the Austin Dispute Resolution Center. Sam Shore has conducted training in conflict resolution and negotiation for a variety of organizations and has co-authored a negotiation skills manual used to train persons with psychiatric disabilities to negotiate for themselves in their work settings. Karl Spock has been a volunteer mediator with Austin’s Dispute Resolution Center since 1995. He is the sole proprietor of Karl Spock Public Affairs Consulting and specializes in analysis and communication of public policy issues for state and local governments as well as private sector clients. Before beginning his consulting career in 1993, Karl was an Assistant Director for the Texas Sunset Commission and a senior analyst for the Legislative Budget Board for a total of 17 years.  (kspock@spockconsulting.com, 512-476-2223)

Liz Viola has been a mediator since 1988. She has worked with conflict resolution in business, divorce, and law enforcement. She is a past board member of the Austin Association of Mediators, a former Assistant Director of the Dispute Resolution Center and has a Master of Arts in Human Services. Lisa Weger is a mediator, facilitator, consultant and trainer in conflict resolution. Her background is in speech and communication, with a B.S. in Education. Lisa is on staff at the Dispute Resolution Center, where she has had various affiliations since 1989, including being a volunteer mediator. Lisa served as adjunct faculty in the role of coach for the graduate program in Conflict Resolution at St. Edward’s University.  (lweger@juno.com, 512-371-0033)
